The Universal Color Code
Think of it like a traffic light:
- Red: Stop immediately! Something critical is failing.
- Yellow/Orange: Caution. Something needs attention soon.
- Green/Blue: Information only.
Check Engine Light (CEL)
The most mysterious light. If it's steady, get it checked soon. If it's flashing, pull over—uncombusted fuel is dumping into the exhaust.
Oil Pressure Light
This is the most dangerous one. Stop immediately. Running an engine without oil pressure will seize it in seconds.
Battery/Charging Light
This means your alternator isn't charging the battery. Head to a shop immediately.
